DISTRIBUTION:
Catocala erichi = californica,
(wingspan: mm), flies in southern
California: San Bernadino County,
possibly into Nevada and
Arizona.
This moth has recently been synonymized with Catocala californica.
Catocala erichi, California, All Leps Barcode of Life.
FLIGHT TIMES AND PREFERRED FOOD PLANTS:
Catocala erichi are usually on the wing from August to
September.
The Catocala erichi caterpillar feeds on .
ECLOSION:
Adults eclose from pupae at soil surface.
SCENTING AND MATING:
Catocala erichi females
emit an airbourne pheromone and males use their antennae to track the
scent plume.
EGGS, CATERPILLARS, COCOONS, AND PUPAE:
Eggs are deposited on
tree bark in the fall and hatch the following spring.
