DISTRIBUTION:

Manduca extrema flies in
Venezuela;
Ecuador: Chimborazo: Riobamba; and
Bolivia: (specimen type locality): [La Paz: Murillo,] Río Songo [Zongo], 750m; Larecaja, Guanay.

Based on locations confirmed above, I suspect it also flies in eastern Colombia and eastern Peru.

FLIGHT TIMES:

Manduca extrema adults fly in October and possibly in other months.

ECLOSION:

Pupae probably wiggle to surface from subterranean chambers just prior to eclosion.

SCENTING AND MATING:

Females call in the males with a pheromone released from a gland at the tip of the abdomen. Adults take nectar from flowers.
