DISTRIBUTION:

Manduca rustica galapagensis flies in the Galapagos Islands (specimen type locality).

FLIGHT TIMES:

Manduca rustica galapagensis adults fly in March and April.

ECLOSION:

Pupae probably wiggle to surface from subterranean chambers just prior to eclosion.

SCENTING AND MATING:

Females call in the males with a pheromone released from a gland at the tip of the abdomen. Adults probably take nectar from flowers.

EGGS, LARVAE, PUPAE:

Larvae feed on Bastardia viscosa, Clerodendrum molle, Commicarpis tuberosis, Cordia lutea, Cordia leucophylctis, Croton scouleri, Darwiniothamnus lancifolius, Lantana camara and Tournefortia rufo-sericea.
